The Coffee Crew Brigade!
The Coffee Crew Brigade was founded when the Moringa Madres Project and original Garden Project began. There was a need for an inexpensive fertilizer for the plants in the garden. To the rescue came Jeane Treloar and Charlene Schultz! They founded a group of volunteers that solicit businesses to donate their used coffee grounds. These volunteers collected the coffee grounds from around lakeside every week and brought the grounds to the garden for the villagers to spread around the plants/trees to enrich the soil.
Charlene has since had health problems, some volunteers went back NOB; that left Jeane doing all the work by herself. When she had to give up this task, Ginny and Dave stepped in and took it over. When they are away, Theresa and Carol take over the pick-up.
If any of you can volunteer to help her, please e-mail Operation Feed at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will get back with you promptly and welcome you with much enthusiasm!
The local businesses that began supporting this effort by donating coffee grounds and containers are: Black Coffee, El Jardin Restaurant, Coffe' Black & White, Salvador's, Ajijic AA, Gourmanise Francaise, and Bluebell Ice Cream. An additional loyal supporter was Maria Isabel's Restaurant. However, as our volunteers decreased in number we had to reduce the number of donors. Right now Salvadors and The Waffle House are donating their grounds. We truly appreciate these sponsors although we hope to add more since the moringa trees and gardens and increasing in size and we need more grounds.
Ginny is an Egg Lady, a despensa bagger, and the Coffee Grouds collector. She sure could use some help! We need to collect from more places. Please consider helping; it's not very difficult. We'll even come to you and gather the grounds that you collect.
